Google Circles: A New Social Network Attempt – True?

Google previously attempted twice to enter into the social network market after having a huge success and then failure of Orkut which was not of Google initially, but later was adopted by Google. Google then dipped their fingers in with Google Wave which was a very unique and great thing, but was left out again and finally Google had to end that project too. This will be third attempt from Google to start something like Facebook and Twitter.

The last attempt by Google was the Buzz which was integrated into Gmail which is a widely used web based email service but that failed to achieve the targets too. Today a rumour came in when RWW.com published that Google is going to release a new social network called Google Circles which will have the ability to circulate your photos, videos and status messages among your circle of friends.

If what we’ve heard is correct, the service will offer photo, video and status message sharing. Everything users share on Circles will be shared only with the most appropriate circle of social contacts in their lives, not with all your contacts in bulk. Circles may be shown off at an event co-hosted tonight by the ACLU, an organization focused on privacy and the liberties it affords.

Later when asked from Google (according to All Things Digital) they denied it.

A representative for Google told NetworkEffect unequivocally that no such service is launching at SXSW today. She would not say whether something called Google Circles was in the works.
